Welcome!
The club of the book is a unique group of fun and intelligent women who actually talk about the books they read! Of course we eat and drink as we do so, but lively and spirited discussions about the chosen novel always happen. Whether we all agree or not, whether the book was good or not, we all have a grand time voicing our opinions, in the most civilized of manners, of course! Until the Captain Morgan comes out.
But we are so much more than a book club. Reading is just the beginning! In addition to improving our literature repertoire, we participate in a number of different activities:
- Organized game nights every couple of months
- Day trips to places like Galena, the New Glarus brewery, and Storybook Gardens
- Making the rounds of the Milwaukee beer gardens during summer
- Becoming "Action Book Club" once a month when we help out or donate to charities
- International travel! In 2016 we traveled to Italy
About Us
We started in 2012 as a small group of 5. Over the years we've added quite a few members and we currently stand at 12. Together we've experienced weddings, new babies, job changes, breakups and divorces, new homes and new relationships. We've been through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. But these events have made us a rock-solid group of friends. Our previous name was "Don't Mess with My Book Club!" after one of our members was assaulted at a movie theater (while there alone). Once the club found out, they said there would've been hell to pay if they had been there. We are a tight-knit family and we definitely have each other's backs! Italy is actually where we got our current name. While there, our tour guide, knowing we were a book club, always referred to us as such, but in a way only Europeans can...The Club of the Book. We thought it adorable and it stuck!
